XIXI WETLAND PARK
VISITOR CENTRE
Located at Long Shezui Area of Hangzhou Xixi National Wetland Park, the visitor center is the third phase of the project to resurrect the contaminated wetland. The overall approach features ‘Xixi’, wetland, ecology and bionic environment. The site has been given the title as China’s main biological research site for the year 2021 until 2024. The ecological exhibition area consists of one upper and lower floor that provides plants growing and exhibition. The ecological education area cooperates with the ecological environment research center of Zhejiang University, providing students an education site that is a ideal location for outdoors studies.
DESIGN CONCEPT
Extending the mountains (biomimicry)
Derived from the mountainous topography of Hangzhou. The triangular center puts great emphasis in mimicking and maximizing views towards them. The northern facade is faced towards Mt.Tianmu & Mogan, facing south east towards Mt.Baiji and Mt.Wuchao in the west.
CONTINUOUS AND ROLLING MOUNTAINS
Fully accessible green roof stimulate hiking experience from the visitors when they’re gradually elevated from ground zero

Sloping green roof provides an organic connection between the site and architecture when the grass on the site extend up the green roof completing the loop

Spiral shaped pathway emphasizes the mountains and water bodies with zero blindspots to the visitors
